ABOUT GARY
In many ways I have been preparing to be a Marriage and Family Therapist my entire life. My parents divorced when I was 9, I struggled somewhat in middle school and high school, and I put myself through college and graduate school (twice). Before I trained to do therapy, I had already worked as an educational aide in the San Francisco public schools, a volunteer coordinator, a research assistant, a college instructor (Sociology), and a counselor at Big Brothers and Sisters.
Each of these career directions helped me refine my focus and realize how much I love being part of a process that brings profound change, growth and healing.
Since becoming a licensed psychotherapist in 1987, I have worked with individuals and facilitated groups with children, adolescents and adults through a local non-profit agency. At the same time, I saw individuals, couples, and families in a private practice, developed an adolescent treatment program for juvenile sex offenders, and gave presentations to Marin's juvenile and adult probation departments, residential treatment programs, foster parents, and others.
I am currently the Chair of the Bay Area Chapter of the California Coalition on Sexual Offending, work with the Catholic Church as a member of an Internal Review Board regarding clergy abuse, and have an active private practice in Marin County, California.
In addition to my professional work, I sing and play the guitar and other instruments, and enjoy gardening, cycling, and photography.

The following is a brief overview of my education and professional experience.
